Stanley Consultants is seeking a motivated productive individual to lead the Transportation Structural Department in the Chicagoland area. This leader will also serve as a Principal Bridge Engineer, participating in all phases of transportation structure design from concepts through construction.
What you will be doing:
- Responsibility for the operational management and oversight of the bridge group including project delivery, staffing, quality, utilization, workload forecasting, work-sharing, safety, morale, recruiting, performance reviews, marketing support, and the general direction of the group to ensure operating plan expectations are met.
- Maintain up to date and accurate workload and utilization forecasting using company provided staff management tools.
- Manage the growth of the group, including recruiting and hiring staff and developing and implementing business development and marketing plans, in coordination with Transportation leadership.
- Assist in development of marketing strategies, written proposals, and innovative concepts for new business pursuits.
- Lead and motivate the staff in the group to strive to meet the goals of the Practice.
- Professional client and professional organization engagement and interaction.
- Perform client management, project management and/or technical support activities.
- Familiarity with all phases of Project Development from planning and studies, through final design, and into construction and operation.
- Mentor staff in needed skill sets, character development, and professional interaction.
Required Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree or greater in Structural Engineering or Civil Engineering (Masters Preferred).
- At least 15+ years of relevant structural/bridge engineering design experience. Technical expertise in steel bridges, long span bridges, bridges over water a significant plus.
- A Professional Engineer license (PE) and a Structural Engineer (SE) license in the state of IL.
- Strong all-around theoretical knowledge of structural engineering principles.
- Strong people skills and an ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team environment.
- Must embody the high qualities of integrity, character, and ethical behavior.
- Experience with the design of multiple bridge types in concrete and steel, wall systems, and minor structures.
- Design experience with AASHTO LRFD, AISC, ACI, and other North American design codes and standards.
- Proficiency in MathCAD, STAAD Pro, LPILE, LEAP Bridge software, MDX, Bentley/MicroStation products, Midas, LARSA 4D, or other equivalent engineering standard bridge software.
- Proficiency in all Microsoft Office Suite applications, commonly used structural engineering software, CADD drawing platforms, and file management frameworks.
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills; ability to guide structural team as a technical design resource, foster leadership growth within team environment, schedule resources, and work cooperatively with project managers and regional leadership.
Stanley’s Approach to Flexibility
While some members choose to work out of their local office on a full-time basis, we offer a hybrid schedule for eligible positions consisting of two days a week in the office, two days a week remotely, and Friday being a flexible day that can be worked either in the office or at home. Eligible roles can also offer a compressed workweek schedule. Members who participate will be assigned a 9/80 work schedule, meaning every other Friday off!
