Dakota Memorial School (DMS) is a non-public school located on the campuses of Dakota Boys and Girls Ranch. DMS provides a specialized education for children in residential care at the Ranch, along with Day Students who come to us from the surrounding communities. Math and Science Teacher to join our team. This full-time position is an opportunity to impact students' lives in a small, supportive environment where individualized attention and relationship-building are key.
About Us
Our school serves at-risk youth in grades 5-12, including those in a residential treatment center. With a focus on safety, respect, and responsibility, we provide a holistic approach to education and behavior support for students who thrive in non-traditional settings.
Key Responsibilities
- Teach middle and high school Math and Science courses aligned with state standards.
- Develop engaging, differentiated lesson plans to meet diverse student needs.
- Foster a supportive, structured classroom environment that encourages academic and personal growth.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to support students’ academic, social, and emotional development.
- Maintain accurate records of student performance and communicate progress to stakeholders.
Qualifications
- A current teaching license in Math and/or Science for grades 6-12 OR eligibility for provisional licensure in these areas.
- Experience working with at-risk youth is highly preferred.
- Strong classroom management skills and a commitment to trauma-informed practices.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving abilities.
