Job Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Payroll Manager to oversee our payroll processes and ensure accurate and timely compensation for 5 locations. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in payroll management, accounting, and human resources, along with proficiency in relevant software systems. This role is crucial in maintaining compliance with financial regulations and providing exceptional service to our workforce.
Essential Functions:
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Manage the end-to-end payroll process, ensuring accuracy and compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
- Oversee and manage the payroll process for multiple sites, ensuring timely and accurate payroll processing for all employees.
- Analyze payroll data and prepare reports for management review.
- Oversee benefits administration, including enrollment, changes, and terminations.
- Conduct account reconciliation to ensure all payroll-related accounts are balanced.
- Develop, implement, and maintain payroll policies and procedures to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
- Assist with year-end payroll processes, including W-2 preparation and distribution, ensuring compliance across all locations.
- Conduct regular audits of payroll processes and records to identify and resolve discrepancies.
- Collaborate with the human resources department to address employee inquiries regarding payroll and benefits.
- Maintain payroll software, ensuring it is updated and configured for each site’s specific requirements.
- Respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll, benefits, and deductions in a timely and professional manner.
- Stay updated on financial concepts and regulatory changes impacting payroll practices.
- Train and mentor payroll staff to foster a high-performance team environment.
Supervisory Scope
Site payroll administrators will report directly to the Site Functional leaders with a dotted line to Payroll Manager. Hiring and performance assessment will be the joint responsibility of the Payroll Manager and Functional Leader.
Travel and/or Driving Requirements
- Occasional travel to job sites as required.
- May require extended hours during peak payroll cycles, year-end close, etc.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Finance, Accounting or a related field preferred
- Strong knowledge of payroll software and systems (UKG PRO)
- 10+ years’ experience in payroll within a manufacturing environment
- Familiarity with federal, state, and local payroll regulations and compliance requirements.
- Professional certification in payroll (e,g., CPP, FPC) is a plus

- Proficiency in processing payroll accurately and efficiently.
- Attention to Detail: Ability to ensure accuracy in payroll calculations and data entry
- Analytical Skills: Strong ability to analyze payroll data and generate reports.
- Problem-Solving Skills: Capability to identify and resolve payroll discrepancies and issues.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills for interacting with employees and management
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in payroll software (e.g., ADP, Paychex) and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel
- In-depth knowledge of federal, state, and local payroll laws, including tax regulations, wage and hour laws, and compliance requirements.
- Basic knowledge of accounting principles as they relate to payroll processing and financial reporting.
- Ability to analyze data and solve complex problems
- Ability to lead, mentor and influence others
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
